What a good name for a Zoneful restaurant: sweetgreen. So Sherlock Zone, our intrepid food detective, decided to give it a try.  He discovered a clue when he found the restaurant’s mission statement.

“sweetgreen is a destination for delicious food both healthy for you and aligned with your values. We source local and organic ingredients from farmers we know and partners we trust, supporting our communities and creating meaningful relationships with those around us. We exist to create experiences where passion and purpose come together.”

Quite a lot to live up to, Sherlock mused as he opened the menu. Grains were one category that went right off his list. Don’t go there.

First the ready-made offerings that are in the Zone.

ROASTED SALMON PLUS RADISH SALAD
415 cal
organic arugula and shredded kale, local radishes, beets, carrots, roasted salmon, mustard-oregano vinaigrette

ORGANIC LENTIL CHICKPEA SOUP
160-240 cal
This 100% organic soup is made with lentils and chickpeas with diced carrots, onions and celery. This could be a good source of carbohydrates.

GUACAMOLE GREENS
540 cal
organic mesclun, tomatoes, red onion, tortilla chips, avocado, roasted chicken, fresh lime squeeze, lime cilantro jalapeño vinaigrette

AVOCOBBO
705 cal
shredded kale and chopped romaine, tomatoes, raw corn, avocado, bacon, egg, roasted chicken, blue cheese dressing

Second are the meals diners put together themselves.

First the bases:
chopped romaine
organic mesclun
organic wild rice
organic baby spinach
shredded kale
organic arugula
organic quinoa + farro
Choose two and, of course, don’t choose the rice or quinoa.

Next come the acceptable carbs. Sherlock has eliminated the ones diners should stay away from:
local apples
organic chickpeas
spicy broccoli
organic carrots
sprouts
shredded cabbage
tomatoes
cucumbers
red and green peppers
red onion
Choose up to four

Good choices of protein are:
roasted salmon
roasted chicken
citrus shrimp
hard-boiled egg
housemade hummus (Sherlock is not sure why hummus, a favorable carb, is in the protein list.)

Dressings are gluten free and made in house. Additional selections include cheeses, nuts and avocado.

Sherlock enjoyed this restaurant. Just stay away from the grains, and you’ll have a good meal.
